drivers for pci sys mgt bus?

i just did a f&p and installed win98se. while loading drivers for the various devices, i could'nt find drivers for the "pci system management bus". win98 says i need'um because it did'nt install'um, but i can't figure out where to point to. do any of you know where these drivers are located, and why win98 did'nt install them to begin with? thanks, twx2

What chipset is your motherboard?

If they are i8xx, you need to install the Chipset inf drivers from Intel.

thanks andy, i recall now after your mentioning it. i remember those files causing all kinds of grief toward peeps with plex drives and esp. when using ez cd creator with those drives. i'll get the newer file version if possible. thanks again andy! twx2

No.

There are two sets of drivers. One is the Intel Chipset Inf drivers, which make your operating system recognise all the i8xx devices, like the AGP and PCI bus. These are the drivers that you want.

The second set of drivers are the Intel ATA Storage Drivers. Those are optional, and may give problems with CDROMs and CDRWs. The latest version, 6.10.011, have most of these problems fixed.
