Drivers for an HP Athlon notebook

It has the Nvidia logo on the front so I am assuming that's the chipset. I put in new HD and installed XP Pro - all works but two things:

SM Bus driver. Can't seem to get the right one from Intel or Nvidia's website. Not listed on HP's site for this computer

Audio does not work. No sound device drivers on their website for this model either. But I tried d/loading AC/97 codecs. They get through most of the install procedure, and then blue screen me. System restarts again, with no sound.

Any help on this one? HP"s website had drivers for video and network ... but these other things drive me nuts. It's a ZV5242qv notebook.

It looks like it has an AMD processor in it, not an intel. A quick google search brought up that it had a Nvidia Nforce3 chipset in it. Try this link:

http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce3_winxp_5.11

That should install the SMBus drivers, audio and all the other stuff in there. Worth a shot.

Thanks! Great try (it's a lot closer than I got to the right stuff) but that one installed the wrong SM Bus driver, and the AC '97 Audio driver blue-screened me just like the one I tried yesterday did.

I could live without the bus driver I guess but it would be great to have sound. Also there seems to be a few Athlon drivers for Windows ... none of them seem to install right. I always get the yellow asterisk next to 'Base System Driver' although the laptop appears to run OK.

I appreciate they help guys! I'll use it the way it is if I have to, but I'm sure drivers for this stuff are around somewhere. I've been searching two days now and that's unusual... one can almost always find the right stuff after a couple of hours.

i had a zv5200 laptop, i cant remember where i found the smbus driver, sorry i know its not much help.
