Drivers for A7A266

Hey folks. I'm having some trouble with mystery-pops from a 24-bit digital I/O soundcard (Waveterminal 2496) during recording. I bought the A7A266 because the VIA chipset was -definately- not compatible with the Waveterminal soundcard.

I'd like to try changing the drivers, but I'm not 100% sure of what I'm doing. Can someone kindly give me some pointers?

* I've got the ASUS A7A266 Socket A ALI M1647 mobo and an Athlon 1.33 cpu.

* I've downloaded the very latest A7A266 BIOS (version 1008b) from ASUS's downloads page and am about to install it:

ftp://ftp.asus.com/pub/asus/mb/socka/m1647/a7a266/aa26108b.zip

Is there anything else I should try downloading and installing (i.e. ALI-specific drivers)? From where, exactly? I saw on Asus' webpage that there were some other random sound/network/scsi/etc drivers for my motherboard, but I assumed they were for those A7A266's that came with on-board sound/network/scsi/etc, and I didn't want to touch that since I didn't get any of that stuff.

Thanks very much for your help folks. Have a great weekend!

The only ALi chipset specific driver that you need (as long as you are running Win98SE and above), is the AGP driver. You can get this from ALi's website. It is not necessary to load chipset patches or IDE drivers, although ALi does now offer them in a similar package to VIA's 4-in-1 drivers.
