Drivers & Firmware for a 3Ware card: Can I mix and match?

Hello AT,

I've got a 3Ware Escalade 7000-2 RAID card. It's got the v7.53 firmware on it and I've got the v7.53 driver disc.

I noticed on their site that the latest firmware and drivers are the v7.56.

Can I use the newer 7.56 driver w/the 7.53 firmware?

What I gather from their website is that you need to do both the firmware and the driver.

Why don't you want to update the firmware?

Thanks guys. I will update the firmware if I have to...I just get the heebie-jeebies flashing EEPROMS b/c if something goes wrong...well, you have a paperweight. My UPS is a nice insurance policy against that though.

Would you guys recommend that I flash the firmware to the latest version?
