Drivers causing windows loading problem? (gtx 260)

Hello. Just got a semi-new rig built last night. Got windows 7 installed(64-bit). I have the same mobo, cpu, and ram from my previous system. Mainly GPU, case and OS upgrade.

Went to install a set of nvidia drivers upon entering windows the first time, no problems. Decided to try some beta/optimized drivers there were getting good results(the non-card killing nvidia drivers) and uninstalled them. Booted into safe mode to run driver cleaner pro. Rebooted to regular mode and installed the new drivers. Restarted my computer and now it hangs at the 'loading windows'. I've let it sit there for over 4 hours while I got some sleep. Woke up to the same screen. Thinking of just wiping the drive and reinstalling since I barely got things installed but I'd like to avoid this problem in the future.

The GPU is a gtx 260(evga).

Any suggestions?

well i'm stumped. went and head and formatted and ran win 7 install again. it finished. upon rebooting after the install it shows the same windows loading screen and just sits there. what the fuck?
