ATI Catalyst 7.1 for Vista and XP

nVidia Forceware 100.54 for Vista vs. 93.71/97.92 for XP
Article says the driver that will be released on the 30th will be an updated version.

Testing was done with 32-bit Vista.
-Crossfire and G80 SLI are clearly not ready and really not worth mentioning at this point.

-7950GX2 numbers are pretty damn good, almost tied with XP

-8800GTX numbers are promising (1920x1200, 8xQ AA, 16xAF)
ES4O: 61 vs 70
FEAR: 38 vs 41
NFSC: 25 vs 31
Prey: 57 vs 67

-X1900XT (1680x1050, 16xAF, 2xAA for FC & HL2)
DM: 35 vs 36
HL2: 53 vs 56
Far Cry: 32 vs 38
Prey: 26 vs 35

Really good development on the ATi front has more to do with CCC no longer being the bloated and unresponsive piece of crap that it is universally acknowledged as.

Okay, I don't quite see why they couldn't test both cards with the same suite of games but I guess this will have to do for now. Cheers!

I can't get farcry running smoothly in Vista 32-bit, no matter what i do :p

2.1Ghz tbred-b/6800GS/1GB RAM (ran farcry like a dream in XP), and it just stutters and lags like i'm using a fx5200, no matter what res i use :|

latest vista drivers for my 6800GS and my SBLive! 24-bit, maybe my problem lies with the soundcard? By the same token, i've had no problems with MarioKart at 1600x1200 with maxed AA/AF ;)

100.54 is kind of disappointing but again I'm sure 8800 drivers are going to improve a lot in future. I think Vista hits a speed breaker when using legacy DX 9 API

Try turning on the high performance write caching option in HD properties in device manager. You might just not have enough ram for vista though.

Cheers mate i just did that, will try farcry again now :)

Worth firing up readyboost too? Got a pretty quick 256mb drive that i've tried (just for desktop) a few times, seems to make a difference...

EDIT: made no difference :(

Still laggy as all hell :p

So it looks like Flat Panel Scaling will not work with the official 8800 Vista drivers.

This is really starting to piss me off. Why the hell can't they get flat panel scaling to work? I've been trying to deal with this on XP and now I find out it's not working with Vista either!! :|
