I get that message pointing to 'ndis.sys' when I try to send a e-mail with SMTP authority using Opera V6.05 w/ SMTP Auth V0.9
This also happens with just Pegasus Mail running!

I thought it was a problem with SMTP Authority, but the same thing happens with Pegasus Mail! Here is the KB article from M$ on the error:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;293077

Here is the overview from M$ on ndis:

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hwdev/tech/network/ndis5.mspx

My network card is a Linksys LNETX100 through a Netgear router
I have DSL through Verizon if that matters.

I'm running 2k Pro w/SP3

I do see SP4 is out, with 2 issues on something simalar to this, but with the Server edition:

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;810823

http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;330716

I'm not ready to instal SP4 yet.........too early.

Any other ideas??

There are a lot of reasons for that error.

Bad stick(s) of ram. Corrupted Pagefile. Unsigned drivers.

Try moving the RAM into different slots.

If you still get the error, the disable your pagefile.

Right-click My Computer \ Properties \ Advanced
Select the Settings button under Performance.
Select the Advanced tab.
Select Change under Virtual memory.
Select No paging file and press the Set button. Press Yes if prompted.
Press OK, OK, and OK.

Shutdown and restart your computer.

Right-click My Computer \ Properties \ Advanced
Select Settings button under Performance.
Select the Advanced tab.
Select Change button under Virtual memory.
Select System Managed size and press the Set button. Press Yes if prompted.
Press OK, OK, and OK.
Shutdown and restart your computer.

How about a process that is running continusly in the background by a program that isn't even running??

The "I/O other" catagory in Task Manager shows this process constantly running even though nothing is using this feature. It is a capture card that also has a audio input (combo A/V card) that I haven't loaded the audio driver for since I have another audio card I'm using.
I thought it was needed, but not so for the video portion of the card apparently. I think this MIGHT be it, but too soon to tell.

It's a Winnov Videum A/V card BTW. (shity software also, plenty of problems before with it).
