Ever since the 21.85 Detonator Drivers have come out I have been unsuccessful in upgrading past the 21.83's - I follow the prescribed process, including switching to a Windows VGA driver and using NV Cleaner to remove any/all vestiges of NVidia drivers in the registry but when I reboot my computer loads successfully to when it usually clicks onto the desktop and I get a black screen. When I switch back to the 21.83's all is well and I see 3D Mark 2001 SE benchmarks of 6800 using default settings.
I would really like to switch to the newer 23.11's but cannot and I have also tried the newer beta 27.xx series with similar results as above.
My machine specs - Intel D850GB mobo with the lates P18 bios revision, 512 RDRAM, Leadtek GF3 Ti 500 video card with 9/25/01 bios, Audigy Gamer sound card, 3 HDD's - one 60 GB ATA 100 Quantum Fireball with W98SE OS installed, another is 18 GB Seagate Cheetah Ultra 160 SCSI with all games installed on it, and another Cheetah 9 GB Ultra 160 SCSI with custom swap file on it. I also have a Sony 21" 500PS monitor with BNC cabling and I use NVMax 4.00.41 to control video card settings and Powerstrip for everything else, including refresh rates.
Any ideas?
