I've been planning on getting a new laptop to use for games/programming work (Mostly a senior project for school that will involve a good deal of OpenGL).. After seeing all the reviews, and the price, I'm quite impressed with the Presario 2800. Unfortunately, last I had seen, support for ATI cards under Linux wasn't very good...

Might anyone have experience/info on the current status of driver support for the 7500? I don't really need blazing speed, but I'd like to be able to get at least decent performance out of the laptop under Linux, and I haven't been able to find a Geforce4 Go laptop at the same weight/price (The Inspiron 8200 is a bit too heavy, though otherwise suitably equipped).

Thanks for any help!

As long as you get a distro with the current version of X (4.2.0) there should be no problem.
I run the Radeon 32M DDR in Linux.

I just got the Presario 2800T -- when I get it delivered I'm planning to install Linux -- I'll let you know how that turns out.
