Originally I had the problem that my XP freezes in during usual processes (winzip, winamp, explorer, trillian...) I thought of a timeout or a buffer overflow or something like that....

So I reinstalled a few times and I noticed that I get those "freezes" (that last about 20 seconds) are obviously caused by my graphics card drivers! ...
My GPU is a GF 6600GT Extreme from Leadtek (pci-E)
Right now I'm using the official Leadtek drivers but I experienced the same problems
with the nvidia detonators...

Any suggestions or tipps?
And where can I find something like a "graphics card driver remover"?

greets

i dunno where to find that graphics driver remover...i just do it on my own with the unistall thing it comes with (in control panel)

it might not be your card, but maybe you dont have enough watts in your power supply (or its not a good PSU)

what kidna PSU do you have/watts?

other system specs?

Make sure you're not overclocking and make sure you have the latest BIOS and chipset drivers for your system. Also try updating the BIOS on your GPU if a newer version is available from Leadtek.

specs:

Amd Athlon 64 3000
1024mb Value Corsair ( Dualchannel )
Asus A8N Sli Deluxe
Maxtor 160gb SATA
Leadtek GF6600GT Extreme

and a 420watts PSU from Tagan...

the point is that i was running my XP installation about 2 hours without any problems,
then I installed the drivers and woosh, freezes again.. strange or? :)

got latest chipset drivers and bios

the "extreme" card is officially overclocked by 5% from leadtek, so I think that shouldn't be the problem...

GPU bios... k I'll give it a try

Could be a mobo bios config as well. Fastwrites on or off? Video caching off is recommended by BFG for the 6800, dunno about 6600's.

by the way, as I know the 6600s are the same chips and ram as the 6800s, but the gpus work with only half of the pixelpipelines...

so.. should be the same settings

Not exactly. NV43 is a different chip from the NV40 based 6800GT. And they are definitely not the same chip - one is .11nm, the other .13nm.

k, as we managed to figure out that point.. :)

which driver do u use insmniak... saw you have nearly the same sys specs as i do.. the only thing i read once that some 6600gts have problems with games like prince of persia where the omega 61.77 drivers can help, but i tried them too without any effect

What driver set are you using? I ask because 66.93 gave me problems, but based on a suggestion by somebody here in the forums I tried 67.66 (from guru3d.com) and my system is more stable.
