Guys
I have a C2d6400 @2.4ghz, ASUS P5B, 320 WD3200KS.....

now i had a XFX GF 7900GS which i swapped for HIS 4850.....however i am facing a driver problem....wen i put the driver Cd and start driver installation the system hangs and doesnt respond...then upon resetting i used Windows found new hardware to install the drivers....and games run fine however there is no contol center etc... so i tried to download 8.7 catalyst from amd;s website but upon starting the setup i still face the same problem....i use Win XP 32 bit SP2 and have 4 GB of RAM

you needed to unisntalled thoroughly the Nvidia drivers then remove the 7900GS, then install the 4850 and then install the drivers for it.

Yeah, only now it sounds like you need to uninstall both NVidia and the ATI drivers.

You should probably run CCleaner as well to clear out some thing.

bad ram possibly, would try it with the 2 1GB sticks 1st. a 2Gb stick does not give you the DDR capability, so if it boots fine with the 2 1GB and they detect fine, then the issue may lie with your single 2GB stick.
