Driver, platform, PSU, or user issue?

Trying to use one card to mine LTC, while the other renders a video game results in a straight crash/reboot.

When I first tried it I was using my HD4600 and it didn't work (same issue), so two days ago I did a fresh install of Windows 8.1.

That didn't solve it, at least not at first, I ended up rebooting and reinstalling/wiping the drivers a few times, finally I defaulted my board to optimized defaults and all day yesterday it worked flawlessly.

I could mine one card, game on the other, stop gaming mine both cards, stop mining the primary, game, so on so forth you get the idea... Working as you would expect.

I can't do that now that I had to reinstall the driver again... Same issue as before, I start mining the secondary card, load a game, game loads few seconds after getting IG system turns off and restarts.

To simplify this, I can run CF IG without issue, but I can't mine both cards at the same time, nor game on one card while mining with the other. I can do one but not the other at the same time without issue unless it's simply gaming in CF which isn't an issue.

Except I could yesterday, after flipping around with driver installs/uninstalls/reg wipes and resetting my bios off it's 4.8GHz OC.

Whats the problem bob?

I am not set in stone!

I don't want to jinx myself, but changing the PCIe lanes in bios and using the bridge then disabling CF instead of not using a at all and countless reinstall/wipes of the driver seems to have prevailed atm.

Not sure what you mean though, mining is the reason I got the second card and my only flip was when I stopped mining but then didn't really use CF much either...

Wasted the second card doing nothing instead of mining, a error I've since corrected!

Yes I did say that, and I still don't hammer them.

I run 800/1500 with 931mv so hammer them I does not :)

Also I might have been stupid or just unlucky, because at the time when I started they were $2.50 each and the diff was low but after two months they were worth $2 and the diff was much higher... To the point where it was worth about $7 a day to mine both cards 24/7.

My goal was to obtain coins, I guess I lost sight of that after I had acquired roughly 110 of them and their value proceeded to drop further.

Shoot to give you an idea of how far detached I got I was planning to hold and sell when they reached $10 which I never thought was going to happen...

Imagine how surprised/shocked/delighted/stupid I was when a few days ago I learned they had hit $48?

Live and learn!
