I posted this in the o.s. forum,and didn't get a response.
If you get any sound out of your computer speakers,such as a sound demo,or the ability to play an audio cd,does this alone verify the functionality of your drivers?.What I am trying to discover is if you can indeed have partial sound functionality,or is it all or nothing?
