Recently, I gutted my m11x R2 Core i7's traditional 160GB 5400RPM HDD for an Intel 80GB SSD. After reinstalling Windows 7 Home Premium and several device and software drivers provided from Dell Support, I arrived at some trouble with both the Intel HD and nVidia 335m graphics drivers; the former I could not locate, and the latter refusing to install - regardless of which version, or whether directly from nVidia or Dell - due to missing hardware (.inf hack didn't appear to work.) Device Manager assures that no newer drivers are available, and that the 335m drivers were not "digitally signed."
As a result, Windows Aero and Gaming Performance clock in at a miserable "1.0", and I am unable to adjust brightness, nor raise the resolution above 1024x768. CPUID does not recognize either graphics device, and simply defaults to Standard VGA Graphics Adapter.
Windows Update is currently only providing updates for Microsoft products, and no other forum appears to discuss a working answer. I also suspect this error has something to do with nVidia optimus. As you can imagine, this is quite a deal-breaker for me.
Has anyone else encountered trouble reinstalling optimus-ready drivers? And how should I go about rectifying these software issues? Lastly, is it possible to salvage working drivers off of the original HDD?
Any comments are appreciated!
