Guys,
The video card on my daughter's system died the other day (Visiontek GF2 value card from Newegg) and I decided to replace it w/ the Ati Radeon 8500LE. I downloaded the latest non-Catalyst drivers from Ati, and after removing the nVidia drivers and updating to DX8.1 I attempted to install the 4.13.9021 WinMe/98 drivers. The install routine inferred there was not a valid video card present, and aborted the install. I then did the driver install from the CD and it went fine.
What do you suppose went wrong w/ the d/l'ed driver install? Should I consider the latest Catalyst drivers instead?
