I just bought a Sapphire HD 5770 card and want to install it in a new system. I'm not sure if I should install the disc that came with the card, install the 10.1 catalyst from the Sapphire site or install the 10.1 drivers from the ATI site. I would like a custom install so I can pick what I want instead of a full install of all the crap that might be there. Is there a preferred driver for this card for Win 7 64 pro?
Thanks for the help.

Just download the 10.1 drivers from ATI site. When you go to install it choose "Custom". That way you can choose what gets installed. Its simple as that.

Install the 9.12 cats, they were good. 10.1 are bad. You can probably find them at guru3d.com if you can't find them on ATI's site.

Thanks everybody for the replies. I haven't loaded ANY ATI drivers yet! This is a fresh install in a new system and I've been holding off to get the right driver based on your collective experience. So 9.12 are best or latest?

It would seem that some are pro 10.1 and some 9.12. My question was 9.12 or latest (10.1)? So you concur that 9.12 is the way to go?
Thanks

The 9.12's work fine for me.

With...
Crysis
Crysis warhead
Wolfenstein
Need for speed Shift
Dirt 2
COD modern warfare
COD WAW
Modern warfare 2
Far Cry 2
Left for Dead 2
MOH Airborn

I can't remember what else I have on this drive.

Sorry for the lack of understanding but I don't know the difference between the HotFix and the regular version.
Thanks

Well I loaded the 10.1 suite from the ATI site expecting to do a custom load. I checked custom load and the only option it gave me was the Driver and something called Folding@Home?? It's just a shortcut for a web site I think. I'm not familiar with all the crap ATI puts on their downloads but I guess I'll know better in a few days when I get a chance to play with it. I was tempted to just download the display driver.
Here is the description of the contents of the suite.
Package Includes:
Display Driver
ATI WDM Integrated Driver
Catalyst Control Center
(English Language Only)
For the 64 bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7

It's the ATI WDM Integrated Driverthat I'm puzzled about. Better do some reading.

As long as you don't experience any problems 10.1 will do fine. There will be a new and supposedly better driver in a month anyways. 10.1 was a rushed release at the very last minute so they forgot to even change the driver version number. I haven't had any problems with it so no point in going back to 9.12 for me.

Starting to get a sudden bright white screen when looking at photos. Can't tell if the system crashed or not. No BSOD just a white screen. I have to manually shut it down and reboot. ATI drivers!!! Nothing has changed. I guess I'll have to wait for an update.
