Driver cuts off cyclist, then goes nuts

OK so easy solution:

People ride bikes on the sidewalk where its safer and more convenient.

But they now have a 5 MPH speed limit.

Yeah, great solution. Not.

I can get to work legally faster by biking(in my work clothes) than by car. Thankfully, where I live we have bike lanes and laws protecting cyclists.

Anybody thinking the car isn't at fault in the video is a troll or a moron.

How is the driver wrong? He turned right. Whats wrong about that? You are supposed to slow down if you are behind them and wait for them to turn. WTF? Stupid pedal spinners.

So if he did the same thing to a vehicle it would of been fine?

Not being a fan of sharing the road with bicycles, even I can see it's pretty clear the guy in the minivan is in the wrong. He knew the cyclist was in the bicycle lane and chose to cut in front of him when he should have waited the 2 seconds for the bicycle to go by.

And? I can get to work legally faster by taking a helicopter(in any or no clothes!) than by car, but that doesn't mean it is a good idea. Hell, I could ride a donkey in about the same time. Should we allow donkey riders the right of way on streets? I will wear a poncho every time, I swear!

Whenever I see idiot behavior by a bike or motorcycle I just fire up GTA 5 when I get home, steal a truck, and go hunting. Clearly the mini van cut the guy on the bike off, the mini van driver seemed much angrier than that little encounter warranted so like previous posters I wonder if something had occurred previously to set him off like that.

Its a good thing sidewalks never cross driveways where someone might turn in front of you. The bottom line is when you are out driving, you look out for other cars, pedestrians and cyclists, PERIOD. How hard is it to just consider someone else safety for fucks sake?

Yawn... Bikes have the same rights to being on the road as cars. Let me know when you actually take a helicopter to work. Say more stupid stuff and cry more...

That just makes it worse. Now the driver intentionally assaulted the bicycle rider with a deadly weapon out of anger. Good thing the bike rider wasn't armed, a lot are these days.

I find it pretty neat that even with a clear video, showing a law abiding bicyclist, so many people (fatties and stoners) can't help but mindlessly complain about them anyway.

guy in the car is wrong. guy on the bike is correct. there's a lane. anyone that can't handle that, well, you shouldn't drive. Can't respect a lane? Get off the roads.

Yeah, the van driver just acted as if the bike was not there and came over.

I would like to see the previous few minutes, though.

You can see that the minivan was wrong in the tiny fraction of the recording the guy on the bike wanted to show you.

What happened in the previous minute or two? That video was clearly only a part of the entire incident. The minivan driver cut off the bike on purpose and meant to stop right there. He was sending a message about something that happened earlier, why doesn't the guy on the bike want to show that part? Maybe, just maybe, he did something stupid and illegal, or even a series of stupid and illegal things that led to the escalation.

Or the more likely reason, the driver was a dick.

No, if the driver and only the driver was a dick the guy on the bike would have included that. If he's hiding part of the video it's for a reason and that reason is not because it makes the driver look even worse.

or there was nothing to show and the rider doesn't want to upload 15 minutes of him riding around like a law abiding citizen. do you know why cyclists have gopros? to record asshole drivers and to help police solve his eventual murder via hit and run.

try riding a bike as a commuting vehicle for a while, you'll understand quickly that drivers are simply dicks.

This one is very clear-cut. The driver is 100% at fault in my view. I hope he was cited for careless driving and/or assault (for kicking the bike). He seems like a hair-trigger asshole and I would be completely unsurprised if he has a prior history of violent behavior.

Funny because I felt the exact same way about cyclists as a pedestrian commuter. 😀
