Driver cuts off cyclist, then goes nuts

Honestly my dislike for cyclists stems more from a consistent disregard for the laws of the road except when it suits them. It bothers me more than idiot drivers because the risk of serious harm and legal considerations starts at a much lower level

As largely a pedestrian these days I think it's fair to say many drivers don't really exercise a lot of regard for the rules of the road either, presuming they are aware of them in the first place.

I have yet to encounter a close call when I am on a ride that would of been my fault.

The only purpose to that post was the illicit a biased response. You refused to watch the video, yet judged it accordingly. I really wish you would represent AT better.

So now let's take a look at this at a different view. Let's say you're operating another car, with a lot of room to stop and avoid collision, as shown in the video - will you hit that van with your car anyways? Or do you step on your brakes?

If you're saying you'd still hit the van, you're a lying sack of shit.

That alone shows you what's wrong with pediclists, they don't think that their bikes are vehicles, but demand the same treatments.

We'll have to agree to disagree.

I always try and share the road, and I try to watch out for cyclists. The only time I ever got annoyed with a cycle rider, (and told him so), is when at a stop light a rider used my truck with his hand on my cab to prop himself. Guess he didn't want to take his foot off the pedals. I rolled down the window and said, yo dude, get your hands off my truck.

Except that he didn't hit the van.

How is this thread still alive? I've never seen something called controversial that was this clear cut before. I bet you guys are fun at parties. The van driver is wrong, period.

Most of us identify somewhat with that stupid driver's stupid rage when it comes to bicyclists in traffic.

I have no problem at all driving out to the countryside for some lemonade on a Sunday and making plenty of room for all the cyclists out there. It's all tits and sunshine. I even have a bicycle that I would ride if I didn't live in the city.

Cyclists in the city (at least my city) are all competing for the Darwin Award. The people driving automobiles here drive like clueless raging lunatics with no time for your ass, no brakes, and no insurance and they all hate bikes myself included (just paid up the insurance tho :hmm🙂. Nobody here uses signals, they don't look, and they don't yield. At all. Rather die first.

So as a cyclist you're a moron if you insist on dangling yourself in front of these assholes every day and deserve the splattering you're going to get, and the moron bikers here will do stupid stuff to further antagonize traffic like beat on your hood "just to make sure you saw me", run red lights and fly in and out so fast cars don't have time to react. Playing with fire. I think the MVA quotes the figures at 750 cycle accidents a year here. I didn't look it up so who knows. I heard something in the news.

Bike laws and bike lanes can't protect you when you're getting scraped up and hosed off the asphalt. Stay home and stay alive.

Maybe it's high time that the most dangerous road users are forced to start taking responsibility for their dangerous ways.

I may need new glasses, but I thought his front tire hit the van.

I didn't hear the video but I can't imagine even if he did hit the van that the driver would have noticed it and it certainly wouldn't have done any damage. Usually, when a front wheel of a bike hits something you're going down. All I saw was the cyclist reaching out toward the rear window of the van.

Not sure what the driver of the van was all upset about, maybe the fact that his wife is fat and ugly or that he's a short little manlet with anger issues?

the bicyclist was a douche for not continuing on his way. Driver was wrong, he knew it. Nobody else matters and nobody else give two shits about it.

Please, do tell me how manly you are riding on your toy in spandex hotpants!
I don't use those, I actually prefer to just ride in a t-shirt and jeans or shorts. I'm a cruiser not a "Lancer" as I like to call them.

Now tell me how manly you are without a Y chromosome, testosterone and a penis.

There's no blood. There are no broken bones. 123 posts? WTH?

ATOT needs to get out of the basement more. I doubt 3/4 of you have a bike or could get your fat asses 1/4 mile down the road on one....Ouch, that's a stick to the mental eye.

I run stop signs. I do not wear spandex. Have me with love.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Speeding doesn't kill, but speed differential does. And what better a way to maximize speed differential than to put cars and cyclists on the same pavement. Not to mention the complete lack of any protection while on a bicycle.

Owning a car isn't exactly cheap either, with all of its associated costs.

The price one of these bicycles costs that cyclists use cost the same as a junk box car. People aren't cycling to work on a $300 Walmart bike.
