Driver angered for no reason

On my way back to work from lunch I get in the far right lane so that I can get on the interstate. The lane to get on is right after a stop light and I got over as early as possible, but the 2 cars in front of me decided that they had to get in a little later. The driver of the second car doesn't even check her side before beginning to drift into my lane, but at this point the front of my car is probably close to be even with the rear bumper of the back car. I slowed down to make room for them so that we wouldn't collide. I see the driver of the car turn her entire body around (just like they tell you NOT to do in driver's ed so that you don't inadvertently turn the wheel) to finally check for any cars that might be to the side and spots me. Apparently her and her passenger (probably a bf or husband) didn't appreciate my attempt to let them in because he begins to hold up and wave his middle finger back and forth. During our merge he continues to turn almost completely around to look at me. I mean, how dumb can people be?

tl;dr: I slowed down to let someone in, their passenger gave me the finger and kept looking at me.

It is possible they were disgusting Packers fans. They fit the profile and my front license plate holder says Chicago Bears on it. Don't drive a gas guzzler though - Corolla.

I was just maintaining my speed (not accelerating) that I had going through the intersection. They were going slower because they were stuck at the light before the lane appears (but not much slower). I slowed down to let them in as soon as their lane change signal went on.
