drive worked fine 3min ago.. now why like this?

hi.. after installing the sis ide driver and sound driver ... my hard drive started to act really slow...then my slave drive both on primary ide .. showed the the disk was blank!!! and ready for formatting.. what should i do?? im using win xp... should i just reinstall os and hope the this problem is solved and the other hd be read correctly?? is there a way for me to recover my data? 20 gig of mp3s and pictures. before i installed the drivers.. both disks were working fine.. my cdrom and cd rw both on secondray ide work well.. pls help...mobo is p4s533 ... p4.18a samsung 333ddr memory ill provide more info if needed

setup goes like this
primary ide 40 gig master 20 gig slave( the hd w the mp3s)
secondary cd writer slave cd rom

When you say blank, you mean it shows with no filesystem, just free space?

dont do anything to that 20GB HDD at all if you want that data back...

since you are using XP, roll back the drivers and check to make sure you installed the right drivers... go back to the MS drivers if you have to..
