Wonder what US cities look like. It seems odd that the drugs would make it into the air. I mean crack, I can see but aren't rest pills or injections?

Or drive with them down while hyperventilating. For the frugal druggies among us.

There was interesting study a few years ago in Milan where city-wide drug use was quantified by analyzing the water outside of town. (it was in the pee-pee.)

The group said the study showed higher concentrations of the components on weekends, suggesting that drug consumption was up in these periods.

There is probably nothing really in the study, and they are just making up stuff. Journalism at it's finest.

Interesting. I remember watching an episode of locked up abroad where the guy was cutting up bricks of pure coke for transport and just being in the room with it gave him the same effect as snorting it.

cutting large quantities in a closed room is vastly different from an air quality station picking up trace amounts in regular testing.

Oh I know, I just found it interesting that you could be affected simply by being near it.

"The research found cocaine in concentrations ranging between 29 and 850 picograms per cubic meter of air. A picogram is one-trillionth of a gram."

LOL. I bet there is 100 picograms of milk in the air there too.

I've heard some stories that because America is such a drug-loving society, our water supply is actually starting to be affected.
Apparent, all the drug leftovers that we urinate or poop out go down into the waste system and just sit there. They dont get filtered out by anything and eventually make their way back into our drinking water.

I have no idea if this is BS or not.

Pharm drugs are showing up in water supplies due to the dumping by the pharm companies.

Only reclaimed water would have remnants of drugs in waste water.

"Not even if we lived for a thousand years would we consume the equivalent of a dose of cocaine by breathing this air"

I know. I saw that, and was severely disappointed. I can't even try and be frugal. Now I actually have to go BUY the stuff. Why would I want to do that?

and so far, most states have laws preventing reclaimed water from being used as potable. its usually used in irrigation, water features at places and flushing toilets. but it does go back into the water table eventually and get filtered into the dirt. and the traces arent really that much, and the particles are too small for current filters to pick up. since most reclaim facilities use granulated carbon to filter water and "bugs" to get rid of biowaste in the water, it isnt picked up at all.

Actually it's weird, since every now and then it will work. Probably depends on the weather or something LOL.

It said the tests were done in areas where drugs were likely to be consumed. In Madrid, the test site was close to a ruined building believed to be frequented by drug dealers. And in both Madrid and Barcelona, the studies were carried out close to universities.

Apparently Spanish university students are coke heads.
