This is a stab in the dark as I am now more curious as to WTF is the space after searching all day online through 100's of posts with similar issues as me.
I have a database server (actually a bunch) that are all windows 2008 / SQL 2008.
They have 9 data file drives (8 data / 1 log).
Each drive is 150 gb's with no apparent hidden partitions, Volume Shadow Copy is turned off on all drives.
The drive's contain 1 database file that is currently 143 gb's each.
The drive's are reporting that they are full...however there should be 6 - 7 gb's free which isn't there.
Running spacesniffer and winstatsdir both show 6 gb's as 'UNKNOWN'.
After speaking with guys in our infrastructure group they say it is the System Volume Information directory that consumes all the space and there is nothing that can be done.
I am just curious what could be eating up 6 gb's per drive if nothing is enabled on these drives.
Thanks in advance,
Lee
