Drive shows as dynamic in disk manager

My 18GB SCSI, which had Windows 2000, crashed so I decided to use a 10K SCSI and set up Home XP SP2, which I got for $19 so I thought I'd give it a try since more and more of the new games won't install or even run on W2K.

The clean install went fine but my 300GB IDE Maxtor is listed as a dynamic drive in the disk manager mmc, and does not show in windows. I've run the Maxtor low level "boot to diagnostics floppy" tests and it show that LBA is bios enabled and the disk is fine, passing all tests. I also attached this drive to another box running XP Pro and ran the same diagnostics but get the same results - drive is listed as dynamic and cannot be read.

Does someone know of a way around this problem? I don't think there is anything wrong with the drive, and if I convert it I will lose all data.

Board is DFI Ultra-D. Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for the link. I use google extensively daily, but my problem is that I don't know how this drive got to be "dynamic" in the first place. Perhaps it was something I inadvertently didn't notice when I formatted it (in W2K).

Perhaps if I connect it to one of my other W2K machine I can see the data, and go from there?
