Here's the background/sob story from the Technical Support Forum:http://forums.anandtech.com/messageview...atid=32&threadid=2028493&enterthread=y
I found a thread in here that said in this situation I should get a new drive, reinstall Windows, connect the old drive as a slave and then try the Get Data Back program on it. Bit if the BIOS can't see it as master, will it be able to see it as slave? Right now the BIOS says the master is the DVD burner. But before I try that does anyone have any ideas? How do you explain how the Hitachi Drive Fitness Program can get to the disc and even says it's good, but it looks like the BIOS can't see it. That program would have to use the BIOS to get to the disc, wouldn't it? And when Windows tries to boot, it does give the Splash screen before rebooting itself, which can only come form the disc, right?
