going tonight - how screwed am I with my 4-5 year old oem battery in my civic?! Should I just not risk it & idle the car for half the movie? (2 hour movie)

or should I pick up a boom box and some batteries :-/

Since I've never ever seen a real life drive in before, what do you need to have running during the movie?

so my battery doesn't die... never run the radio on ACC for 2 hours before...

edit: to clarify - the sound for the movies comes over FM radio, so you either use your car radio or get a battery powered boombox.

You should be fine unless you've trashed your battery somehow. Just be sure to be on ACC (basically stereo only) and not "run" or anything like that.

Definitely bring those jumper cables though, some people have 12y/o batteries and leave their vehicle lights on... I've used my jumper cables at the drive-ins to start several peoples' cars after double-features.

I did this last year. I went to a double feature. I was paranoid so during intermission, I started up the car for the 10 minutes at 2k. Might not of done much but price of mind for me.

I might go again this year once I see a good double feature

I just won't be able to go to drive-in movies anymore since a couple of friends died at one a few months ago.

They went in their convertible and froze to death waiting for the movie "Closed For The Winter" to start.

bring a radio. Last drive in I went to (double feature thor and pirates), we had to jump 2 people near us. There were a couple others who needed a jump as well.

or you could run your engine every so often. or if you have one of those emergency compressors/jumpers that would work as well.

Last time I went to a drive in they had the sound over loud speakers. That was probably 15 years ago. You do know god gave us IMAX for a reason...
