Check out Drive SnapShot. It isn't free (about $55) but it does exactly what you want. It's small and lightweight, and requires no installation. Just a small executable runs everything.

The Ultimate Boot CD has a bunch of drive imaging utlities on it, not to mention a ton of other tools as well. It boots off the CD and runs off of that, so you dont need to install it on any drive or need an OS to do it.

Some Western Digital drives come with drive copiers. I think you can download the utility online.

Thanks for the replies. I'll give these programs a try. One more thing I wanted to ask: Is there a partitioning software, that can re-adjust my NTFS partition without having to install software to the existing NTFS partition ?

I used Parted Magic usb version to resize/move some of my ntfs partitions. Live CD version didn't like my sata dvd burner, it would load halfway then crap out.

What changes I made:
280gb ntfs > 250gb ntfs
280gb extended > 250gb extended

So now I have a 10gb (xp) - 30gb unallocated - extended [250gb ntfs].

Took a long time. I don't remember exactly how long but probably somewhere between 9-12hrs. I started it early morning/late night and it finished sometime in the afternoon.

I can't recommend resizing. Only resize if you have absolutely no other options and the data isn't super important.
