I have a hard drive that has a Drive Image 7 disj image on it, but as far as I recall to restore to a machine with no OS on it, you need to boot up to the DI7 CD to run the Powerquest Recovery Environment (PQRE).

Can this be run without the CD? Can I maybe boot to a win98 floppy and then run it?

Do the files exist anywhere or ONLY on that CD that I don't seem to have. Can't seem to find what files I'd run..

(Back in the old days, Drive Image 2002 let you create recovery floppies...)

Yes, you need the PQRE CD, it also require 256 megs to run for some reason. The cd is included in the retail version. You must be using the Demo version.

In some ways Drive Image 6 was better.

In all ways DI6 was better. DI7 has reduced functionality and a much bigger install footprint due to the ".net" crap.

If you don't have the CD and are registered, you can download the complete ISO and make a new CD via PowerQuest's Website. I believe the recovery has bloated beyond 2 diskettes, so they went to CD.
