Drive Fitness Tests

Does anybody know if there is a windows based software that will be able to tests hard drives for fitness. i.e. bad sectors and etc.

I have 8 Notebook HDs that can only be plugged into my computer through an usb enclosure that I need to test before I put them u for sale in the FS forum.

I am currently testing them all using the error checking tool built into windows xp and letting it automatically fix file system and bad sectors, I was just wondering if there was something better.

Thanks

The program everest from lavalys will show the S.M.A.R.T data, but offers nothing in the way to fix it. Spinrite made by gibson research corp is the best for diagnosing and "repairing" hard drives

I think that for "free" you have to forego convenience and test them one or two at a time in IDE slots using Hitachi/IBM DFT.
