drive changed to slave

i have a vpr matrix 175b laptop...i have some trouble burning cds so i upgraded the firmware for the cd drive and now the drive changed from secondary master to secondary slave.... (burning works fine now... roxio is the culprit)... the problem now i can't boot from cd anymore since the bios does not support booting from slave drive. i called vpr matrix and they say the only way left now is to send the laptop to them to be fixed.

so before i send it to them, is there anyway to fix this? i don't see any jumper on the drive...
