Drive Bay PSU w/24pin Connector?

Lots of supplementary power sources to pick from that can fit in a 5.25" drive bay. But, none of the ones I've seen offer a 24p or 20+4p motherboard connector. A PSU like this would be great for small-format system builds

Has anyone ever seen such a device?

SFF cases usually include room for a PSU, or include one. A second PSU in a 5.25" bay - assuming there is even one available, as most SFF's only have 1 or 2 of those bays available - would generate too much heat. The only places where that heat could be exhausted would be either out toward the user, or into the case.

I agree, but I guess I didn't explain myself well. Here's more details:

I have an MI-100BK miniITX case. I put in a Zotac NF630I mobo in there. The clearance between the mobo and PSU is 40mm! Not enough space for a good, quiet heatsink.

So, I have an unused 5.25" bay. I thought of the supplementary power supplies that fit there. However, my idea is not to suppliment, but replace. I'd remove the case's PSU and use only a bay PSU. But, I can't find one with a 24pin connector.

My assumption is that they don't make one, but I thought I'd ask the collective knowledge of this forum.

supplemental power supplies are for Video cards only. Thus they only have 12V power and thus they only have PCI-E connectors. There is no way you could fit an entire PSU with 3.3V, 12V and 5V rectification in those little form factors...and obviously a 20 or 24 pin ATX connector needs all three voltage outputs.

Awesome! That's perfect.

I have a Zotac board with a GeForce 7100 chipset. I'm using an E2180 in it. And, the box will only have a single HD (80GB Caviar Blue). There's little difference between the 120W and the 90W, so I'll be getting the former.

Thanks.

Not so fast. If your CPU really needs cooling, then those Pico PSUs are unlikely to be adequate. Mini-ITX (and those PSUs) were really designed for VERY low power CPUs/systems. Note that the output of that 120W unit is rated at 80W continuous and 120W peak... I'd think you'd need to use a significantly stronger PSU and rig it to run externally so you'll have more room in your case (if room can even be used to describe those tiny things). I generally think in terms of a case the size of the Silverstone TJ09 as a roomy one...
