Drive bay fans

I have a drive bay fan (two fans, actually). I have used it in my K6-III setup for a year but have never really noticed a difference in temp. I was just wondering if those things really help. If you have air coming in at the front/bottom and air going out the top/back (per the AMD website), would the bay fans disrupt the flow?

mine helps about 3 degrees. Should be in top bay with fans pointed down and with bay under it empty if possible.

Thanks lenjack. I was concerned because I just bought a KT7 and Duron and will be cranking up that puppy as far as it will go. I expect a lot of heat and want the case to be as ventilated as possible. I have been using it the way you described.
