Drive bay adapter

I have had a look at the drawings for the 300 and 900 on the Antec web site.
The fixing method for the drives in the 900 seems to be different to the 300, because the 900 has a modular cage system where you have 3 drives or a fan per cage. Each cage can be removed from the 5.25" drive bay housing. The front bezels seem to attach to this cage, rather than the drive bay housing or front panel, whereas on the 300 the front bezals attach to the front panel. Likewise it looks as if the front bezel for the adapter attaches to the drive bay cage rather than the adapter itself.

If this is the case, then you may be able to mod the adapter to make this work.

My comments above are based on looking at photos and the drawings for the two cases, so I could be wrong.

Interesting point.

Took a look at the mech drawings for each as well, hard to tell since the adapter on the 900 isn't shown mounted, just floating. But since it's a 5.25-3.5 adapter, I would think it mounts directly into the case instead of to the drive/fan cages (where the interior should be 3.5", right?).

I'll call support tomorrow when they're open and ask. Friggin holidays.

I've got a bay adapter around here somewhere, I'll just use that without a bezel for now, and cut my own bezel if need be.

Thanks for checking it out.

Only those companies which live in a fantasy world (as gov't and academia do) are closed on MLKday. Here is a nice bay adapter:
http://www.silverstonetek.com/...nts.php?pno=fp51&area= it has been at blowout prices in some places, and it should fit most cases. The one for the 900 doesn't look very standard (should have mounting holes on the sides just like an optical drive to be generic). Well, the 900 manual has a better pic of the adapter, so it looks like it can fit standard drive mounts. The dress plate looks like it matches fairly well. Sometimes you can still find the similar Cooler Master part to the FP51 at good prices.

Took a look at that silverstone while I was in Fry's, almost picked it up but I didn't like the way the dress plate juts out. Good alternative though, thanks.

I'm planning on stealthing the optical and making a cover for the sunbeam rheobus out of the bay covers that came with the case so I'd like it to match those as well. I'll let you guys know what they say.

P.S. I forgot how loud my raptor thrashes when attached by a normal mount. I'm going to have to suspend my drives before I go insane. Fan noise is an improvement though over the 92mm on the P150. I'll be testing out some dif. fans (see other thread) as time goes on.

Hey Zagood,

IDK how you do your suspending, but I have the 1/8" cable clamps that many use in suspension projects in my FS/T listing (linked below).

Think I fried the motherboard (tested out of case, dif. ram, no hdd attached etc). I'll be holding off on extraneous things like hdd suspension for a bit.

Thanks though, that's probably what I'll be using. The case will be on its side so I can suspend the drives in the area where they'd normally mount.
