Drive Assignments in WINXP

I have two harddrives, and they are set to master/slave.
If i change them to be master/master, and put them on their own cable, will this mess up my drive lettering in windowsxp?

How can I do this correctly without messing things up?

As long as the original Master stays master on IDE-0, you'll be fine. XP Pro / Win2k lets you assign drive letters, in th event it reassigns them, you can pop into the Computer Administration / Logical Drive Manager and you'll be good to go.

I have sort of a similar problem:

Just fresh installed WinXP on this 60gb. I have two partition, one in which the OS is installed onto. That one is labelled C drive but the second partition is labelled E drive while the CDRW takes the D drive.

I know how to change it in Win98, but don't know about WinXP. If someone could help me change it soon, otherwise I'd probably end up reformatting, which I hate doing. Thanks!

Ok got it answered!

If anyone needs the answer do a search for BigPotato because he's the one that helped me. Thanks again.

edit: deschutes was correct, but bigpotato spelled out all the steps of how to get to the logical drive manager.
