In a couple weeks my girlfriend and I get to make the long trip to school at Arizona State from her place in Des Moines, IA. Here's the route planned in a nutshell (major interstates only):
I-35 South from Des Moines, IA to Oklahoma City, OK
I-40 West from Oklahoma City, OK to Flagstaff, AZ
I-17 South from Flagstaff, AZ to Tempe, AZ
We already have two places planned that we'd like to visit - Frontier City (basically a Six Flags in Oklahoma City) and Red Rock State Park in Sedona, AZ. We're looking for things along the way that would be cool to see/do along the route. We'd like the trip to take around five days or so, and with the planned stops it's already three, so another one or two ideas would be cool.
If anyone has any suggestions of things to see or do along our route, it'd be much appreciated. Thanks for your help in advance, guys!
- Eric
PS - I realize it's not ALL the way across the country, but it's still really friggin' far...
