Moto Gingerbread = Gingerbread with Blur, right?

Yep. P3Droid has sent some tweets about liking the new Blur, what what its worth.

Edit - Droid Life has a video up of Quadrant running on the X. Turns out a score of just under 1800. Not too bad, but Quadrant is easy to spoof.

I have it running. There is no ROOT yet. I feel there will be one very soon.

Its great. The New blur is great. The UI refresh is great. Swift key does not work and that's the only negative I have so far.

They rejected this build for whatever reason, so chances are 2-3 months as moto retools it tests it, fixes new bugs, tests it, ships it to verizon and they test it.

Its annoying dealing with Verizon on updates because they have no problem forcing a buggy, slow, or out of date firmware, to make a release date, but then reject updates that would make the phone better because its not perfect.

I went through this on my 9530, with deal with it on my X, and probably my next phone.

I'm trying to install the update, but the update errors:

Code:
updating cdt...
updating cdrom...
assert failed: package_extract_file("cdrom.bin"."/tmp/cdrom.img")
E:Error in /sdcard/Monster_2.3.3_4.5.573_updater.zip
(Status 7)
Installation aborted.

Can anybody suggest what I may be doing wrong? I currently have Liberty 1.5 installed.

I should state the steps I'm performing:
1) Run Droid X Bootstrapper -> Bootstrap Recovery
2) Reboot Recovery
3) Wipe Cache
4) Wipe Data/Factory Reset
5) Install .zip from sd card
6) Install

You might have a bad file. Try downloading it again.

Edit: Have this installed, and I'd never thought I'd say this but Gingerblur is better than AOSP gingerbread. Frickin' amazing.

I ran an MD5 check and it matches the checksum on the posting for the file. Tried re-transferring the file to my sd card, but still no go. The scary thing is that I cannot restore my backup file before I installed Liberty 1.5, which is fine, I'll survive, but I really would like to have GB installed. :(

So would going from liberty to gingerblur kill root?

tdawg, I would just try to SBF and then go from there.

Right now there is no root, but P3droid posted that he has root: http://twitter.com/P3Droid but you will have to go from the .340 SBF to the leaked build.

Turns out it was a bad file on my card. I checked the MD5 hash on the downloaded file and it passed, but the file on my sdcard did not. Deleted it from my card and transferred the downloaded file to the card and rechecked the hash. This time it matched. So, I booted into recovery, cleared the cache, and installed the zip file. Success! Lessons learned. :)

Thanks all.

Anybody else having issues with charging their phone after the update? When plugged into the wall charger, mine just connects and disconnects from the charger like someone's flipping a lightswitch on and off.

Looks bloated and slow to me. Scrolling between home screens isn't smooth looking at all. AOSP > Blur
