drinking lots of iced tea

ive been trying to stray from coke cause thats all i used to drink. it wasnt so hard to get off it. now i barely ever drink it. but now i drink lots and iced tea. like all the time. and i make it stronggg. i would think tea is good for you and good to drink. i also drink regular water too sometimes. but i do wonder about the caffeine. should i just get the decaffeinated kind? would that strip the beneifical things from it aswell somehow? so is it okay to drink lots of cold tea? or should i find something else to be my main drink?
 
i assume this is natural stuff? otherwise you have to worry about additives. also probably better be non-sweet as well.

if you are so worried just drink water. i've never heard of water being bad for you.
 
Tea is good for you, and contains about as much caffeine as soda. Caffeine is not bad for you, don't worry about it.

actually I heard tea has less cafeine than soda. The soda with most cafeine is mountain dew (lol a surprise there 😛)
 
If you are drinking very sweet tea after, say, the southern fashion, then the stuff isn't much better for you than soda. If it is just plain, it's fine.
 
i use Lipton. i do sweeten it but i continually try to sweeten it less and less. i cant give an exact measurement. i do like it because of the antioxidants but i dont like it for its caffeine. i heard caffeine prevents your bones from absorbing calcium. caffeine just cant be good for you. and the reason i strayed from soda was to get away from all the sugar and caffeine. im going to try to add a bag green tea although i dont think it will taste as good but i heard green tea is great stuff. i do like water but when im eating a meal, i have to drink something else. i do drink water when im thirsty during the day but when i eat, i drink iced tea.

I will repeat; Caffeine is not bad for you. The antioxidants and other beneficial compounds in tea are extremely good for you. Don't worry about the miniscule ammount of caffeine in tea.

Soda does not contain as much caffeine as many people believe it does. As you say, Mt. Dew has the most.. and clocks in at a whopping 55mg. Coke and Pepsi have 45mg.

Tea contains 50-60mg, depending on the type.

A shot of espresso contains 60mg, and a cup of drip coffee contains 120-160mg+ depending on strength.
 
I drink a lot of tea as well. I average probably 5-6 8oz cups a day, but it's mostly white, green, or oolong, or a nice tisane like Rooibos. I rarely drink black. If you're worried about caffeeine you could drink Rooibos; equal to green/white in terms of health benefits, but naturally caffeine free. That said, it tastes a little sweeter (although there's no sugar in it obviously, it has a natural fruity/floral flavor with a little spice) and is generally less grassy/earthy than your cheaper greens.

I would seriously drop the Lipton though. If you're buying the bags you're drinking one of the lowest quality of teas conceivable. Put forth a little effort and get some loose leaf teas and you'll thank yourself for it. Try an Oolong like Tung Ting and you'll be introduced to a world of tea you never thought possible.

Enjoy! I'm actually drinking a Gyokuro Green with a little spearmint thrown in for a Moroccan-style mint blend at this very moment. I could drink a gallon of this without hesitation.
 
descartes sounds like he knows what hes talking about. ill try to find loose leaf teas and give them a shot. i bet they are much better. i do like sweet so Rooibos sounds good for me. Thanks.
