As I posted in a previous thread my and my friends made plans to go to Denver around on the 2nd and 3rd on July and see two Tom Petty and Pearl Jam shows.

We found a nice deal on a cabin at Sylvan Lake state park, so I booked that for three nights apparently the altitude there is 8,500ft.

I'm sure the 2 nights in Denver will give us some time to adjust, but our elevations at home are around 800ft or so..

My buddies are all big drinkers (I mean big drinkers) and I've been wondering about the effects of drinking at that altitude and I told my buddies they need to be careful and they basically laughed it off.....
Anyway,
How much stronger is beer going to hit you at that altitude?
and
If you've ever been to Slyvan lake state park, what are some fun things to do/let me know how your experience was?

BIG difference. I stay at my brother's ski house in Deer Valley Utah quite a bit. The house is at about 7900 ft. It takes half as much to get me buzzing hard.

I've lived at between 500-1000 ft elevations all my life.

I don't know man...it's different for each person.

I just moved to Denver about 3 months ago and when I drink... i really have to drink a lot to get wasted. Last year I came out for a wedding, and I litterally drank the entire day and never really got too wasted. That was quite a wedding... almost 14 of straight sloshyness.

Now that im supposedly used to the altitude... it feels like i need to drink more to catch the same buzz. Apparently its supposed ot be the other way around. In anycase, it's not that big of a deal, so have fun and let us know how it goes.

Also, got an extra PJ ticket? :D

If one comes up due to unforseen circumstances I'll let you know...

Me either.

But when I'm in CA now that I've lived and drank at altitude, I can drink massive quantities and not get drunk. Even more than before.

I never noticed anything when I first moved to CO from AZ. I have on the other hand witnessed quite a few of my friends get altitude sickness while skiing from tiime to time. At 8,500 you should be fine. Just remember to keep hydrated and dont over do it;)

If you do a great deal of cardio type exercise regularly, the effects are minimized.
Couch potatos and smokers will be affected the most.
