Drinking Alcohol on your property

I just did a little research, and it seems that there is precedent for unfenced front yards to be considered public places (at least in California).

Fill up an empty beer bottle with water.
Go outside and start drinking.
Wait for cops to show up.

(Technically, you're not consuming alcohol.)

For reference, in America there are these things called states. Within these so-called states are things called counties. Within them?
Cities.
You really need to understand they all have different rules.

Where do you live?
Can you check the laws?
Why not ask a cop?

Here, as long as you aren't causing a problem your fine. If you are you would be cited for disorderly but not the alcohol.

I don't know, can you?

lol, reminds me of karate in 1st grade. After giving the "Well, can you?" he'd promptly lecture on us on how we're supposed to say "May we?". After we'd ask the corrected version he'd say "No, next time.", which would lead to the kid receiving an unwanted yellow belt.
