how does this stuff compare to fresh fruit? is it a better alternative to candy or is it about the same as candy?

i've gotten hold of a bag of dried mangos from coscto and i'm having a serious problem putting it down.

It wont fill you up like fresh fruit cause fresh fruit has the juice still. Besides any preservatives I cant imagine it is bad for you though.

Better than candy because it is natural sugar (not refined and bleached) but nutritionally deficient compared to freas fruit (no enzymes or vitamins left).

Wow - been a while since I had some. Dried banana peices are good too. Why does dried fruit envoke images of geriatrics for me? LOL... prunes?

We have some frozen fruit here - peaches, strawberries, melon. Pretty good for snackin'.

better than candy, still has vitamins.

(Unless it's badly produced and contains aflatoxin B :p)

It's better than candy, unless the dried fruit you bought has preservatives and added sugar. Dried mangos are yummy!

I've bought the dried mangoes from Costco before. I don't know if you have the same brand, but the ones I had seemed to be coated with sugar.

Dried mangos are almost always coated with sugar. Dried fruits come no where close to fresh fruits in nutritional value. Dried fruits also cost a hell of a lot more than fresh fruits!

they are covered in a dusting of sugar. i guess i could rinse them off... or just give them to the coworkers.

the dried cantaloupe at costco is also a killer... i'm having a hard time putting down that bag as well.

the preservative the use is sulfur dioxide... at least i think that's what it was.
