Dress shirts: how to get rid of the stupid bubble around your waist?

Argo

Lifer
When I wear dress shirts I always get a stupid air bubble around my waist. That's just so annoying. Is there a way to get rid of that? Are the shirts these days designed for people with 40 inch waists. Nothing wrong with that, but shouldn't we have options?

Yeah, I have the same problem with shirts and pants. I've been gym addict for 5+ years so I have large shoulders and thies. As the results I need to buy shirts and pants one size larger than I need.

I thought dress shirts were all based on arms size and neck size, i wasn't aware they came in the L, XLs...

I don't understand what you mean by "bubbles" around your waist.

When the waist area of the shirt is larger than your waist, as the result it looks like it's getting untucked.

i unzip my fly, stick my hand in and grab the bottom tails of the shirt to pull them down.

But after you walk around for awhile they still kind of hike up dont they?

I dont know, its never been an issue for me.

Nicer dress pants have small holes in the front pockets so that you can pull your shirt down easily. Upgrade your pants.

You can also buy 'clips' that attach to your socks and your shirt to keep it held down. I forget what they're called, but I want to get some someday.

Why not just get your shirts tailored. It's normally something like $8 a shirt or something like that and they can alter the shirt so it fits you right around the stomach, or as another poster mentioned- slim fitting shirts (basically they are cut thinner in the stomach than normal shirts.

You have to get slim fit shirts. If you look on the back and there are two hem lines then it's slim cut. Banana Rep's stretch shirts are pretty slim w/o those.

Buy fitted shirts, with neck size and arm inseam lengths listed. S, M, L, XL shirts are always going to fit somewhat improperly.
