I use Macromedia Dreamweaver MX to edit my website.

I've recently installed the Microsoft Office XP IME and use the language bar to type in Japanese. I want to use Japanese in my webpages, however the language bar dissapears whenever I am working in Dreamweaver, indicating that I'm working in a Window that the langauge bar features of incapapble of working in.

I have typed Japanese text in Word and copied and pasted it into Dreamweaver successfully and have it show up as Japanese. But I need to be able to type Japanese directly into Dreamweaver.

Does anyone have any advice?

Hmm, well, there's Japanese Windows. :p If you really don't want to cut and paste, you could try 3rd party software like NJStar's. I used to use this before web browsers supported Asian characters. Here's a link to their site. Communicator has an input system, though I can't say if it will work for you or not. They have a trial version you can check out right away.

Windows and the Microsoft Language bar work just fine for typeing Japanese and viewing it in most applications. My problem is specific with DreamWeaver ... unlike Frontpage or Word where I can type Japanese just fine, the langauge bar vanishes when I run DreamWeaver. I want to know if there is a way I cna use the IME along with Dreamweaver to type Japanese directly into it instead of typing Japansese into another app then copy-pasting.

Yah, I don't use IME so I can't really help you there; I don't really know why it might disappear while using a particular app. Found this on someone's website:
Note that you turn the IME software on and off for each program.  If you have two programs open and you turn on the IME software for one of them, the IME bar will disappear when you switch to the second program, and reappear when you switch back to the first.
Might be out of date?

At any rate, the link I was talking about is a similar way to enter characters, just not the Windows built in way. If you have to use Windows IME, can't really say aside from the quote above.

The langauge bar vanishes when you are using an app that doesn't support unicode or uses proprietary code for text-entry boxes as far as I can figure.

I'm hoping someone familiar with Dreamweaver and actually using asian langauge software will respond to this thread.

I haven't yet tried adding Korean (which should be almost similar to Japanese input) into Dreamweaver, but if the Language Bar disappears, it probably means that Macromedia programmed without non-alphabetic language input in mind.

What you could try, though, is to use unicode on your HTML. Then use a different program (not sure which but look for a suitable one) where you can type Japanese and it will convert the text into a string of unicode numbers. i.e. Ưń... etc

I hope I am making some sense. Tomorrow at work I'll try typing in Korean in Dreamweaver and let you know if there is any workaround.
