Dreamweaver 4 Spacing Question?

How come ever time i want to go to the next line by pressing enter it looks like it is double spaced...how can i make it looked single spaced?

Decided to read my book....shift+enter....lol

shift + enter = "< br >" in html
enter = "</p>" in html
that's how dreamweaver and frontpage do they're stuff. i don't know about others.
