Or the improbably strange.

I just woke up to the most strange dream I have ever remembered. Usually my dreams can be evaluated--if remembered--and led back to elements from the day before but this one has zero reference to that or any of the day's event(s). I woke up astounding that I actually created that dream. Whoa!

Now I am thinking about the Futurama episode (A Fistful of Dollars?) where advertisers are at liberty to insert ads into your dreams.

I get some reoccurring themes in dreams, I'd say the most vivid one is going back to school. I'll get a dream where I'm back in school, or perhaps that I just never finished. The actual context as to why I'm in school changes but is always known. It's like if when I start a dream lot of contextual information is just preloaded. I did not dream it but in the dream I know of it. There's various things that can happen in these dreams, like forgetting where my locker is, or forgetting my combo, or both are typical themes. Or being late for class. Or being in class and flipping through my binder and finding math (seems to always be math) related stuff, and realizing that I have not been to math class in a while, then I panic realizing that I may have been accidentally skipping it for some reason, so I try to find my schedule, realizing that I've just been going to all my other classes by memory and keep forgetting about math. In some dreams, I'm actually at home, and go to the bus stop. I may not actually go to school in that dream as I'll wake up before, but I can still picture the building, situations etc that are ahead of me. In one dream, Bob Barker was in it. He just showed up to a class randomly and said hi to everyone. I was late because I could not find my locker but I got to shake his hand just as he was leaving. So randomly hilarious.

One thing that's interesting about lot of my dreams is that most locations tend to be pseudo representations of real ones, some are quite different while some are similar, but they don't tend to change from dream to dream. Certain things may even follow, like if something happens to the location in one dream, next time I dream about that location it will be a continuation. Usually lot of stuff happens between dreams, I'll remember it having happened, but I never actually dreamed it. It's almost like my brain has a bunch of virtual worlds and when I dream it just loads one. The worlds are always "running" in the background so if one does not get loaded for a while more stuff can have happened. Like I'll remember something that happened in the dream, while I'm in the dream, but does not necessarily mean I actually dreamed that particular thing, I just have contextual awareness of it.

Dreams are weird.

Did you nudge him and tell him to turn over?

I keep dreaming about being in the examination hall with the question paper in my hand and unable to recollect any answers. I suddenly wake up startled and sweating.

To dream the impossible dream
To fight the unbeatable foe
To bear with unbearable sorrow
To run where the brave dare not go

To right the unrightable wrong
To love pure and chaste from afar
To try when your arms are too weary
To reach the unreachable star

This is my quest
To follow that star
No matter how hopeless
No matter how far

To fight for the right
Without question or pause
To be willing to march into Hell
For a heavenly cause

And I know if I'll only be true
To this glorious quest
That my heart will lie peaceful and calm
When I'm laid to my rest

And the world will be better for this
That one man, scorned and covered with scars
Still strove with his last ounce of courage
To reach the unreachable star
