Dreamcast question

I just bought myself a dreamcast. I was wondering whether anyone knows any way to tell if i have one of the newer dreamcasts? im just curious so i know if im able to you know what i mean, i hope. thanks

I'm pretty sure the manufacture date doesn't matter to do what you want. I'm under the impression that ALL DCs are capable, can anyone else back me up?
Mine's quite new, and it does the deed fine.

I purchased one of the 2K1 Sports packs and it only played originals. It was manufactured in Dec 2000. I took it back and bought the plain package, manufactured in June 2000.

I imagine if sega did implement any kind of protection in any new dreamcasts, it wouldve been 'cracked' by now

I believe that Dreamcasts from October 2000 and earlier are "able."
