Dreamcast question

Here's my dilemma. I have 2 internet accounts, one is dial up, the other is DSL. I want to be able to play my DC games online with the dial up account. I have a splitter at my phone jack that seperates my DSL/voice line and the line that goes into the back of my Direct TV satellite dish. Since the satellite line is of no use, I took it out and put in my DC line. Everytime I try to connect with the 56k that's supplied with my Dreamcast, the DSL goes out. There are 3 lights on my DSL modem and everytime I connect with my DC, it disconnects my DSL and leaves me with only 1 light with is the power light. I really don't understand why this is happening since the 56k is pretty much using the voice line and not tht of the DSL right? Someone help me out here...
