I saw in the mall that electronics boutique is offering a free dreamcast if you spend $75 in dc games or accessories. The same deal is offered on the n64 games and accessories. Included pre-owned games.

Dizzamn! Any confirmation if this is national or local-only? Is this at Electronics Boutique or EB Gameworld?

I picked up the dreamcast at what's called EBX near my work, then went to exchange of the games at a regular EB near my house, since I read some of the reviews of those games sucked. The games i exchanged were less than the initial purchased ones, so the sales person refunded my the difference. They had the deal there too, so it might be national, but at least regional I'm in CA. Net cost to me for a dc, keyboard, mouse, sword of berserk, and that ulala game was $20 after the exchange and refund.

$75 is two games.. I'd go for that. Especially since Dreamcasts are especially hard to get now.

Hehe, not two Dreamcast games. DC games are like $10-20.

...and I'm pretty sure these are used Dreamcasts they are giving away...

This is an insane deal, if I didn't have a Dreamcast I'd jump on this! Make sure you pick up Shenmue if you're on this deal. Even it's not really a contender anymore, the DC is still a great console.

So true. Everybody believed the hype and chose to wait for the PS2 instead of appreciating the awesome launch titles Sega had. It took the PS2 I believe almost a full year before it had a single game that interested me. PS2 launch titles were trash. :disgust:

Holy cow this is flaming if it's real. Too bad I already have one :(

That'd be the system and at least 4 games for $75. One of the best systems evar.

Sweet deal. The Dreamcast was definitely one of the most underrated consoles and there are tons of great games for it.

It's sad that marketing and hype helped kill one the best systems ever made. In my opinion, the Dreamcast comes second to the original NES. I mean no system ever got me interested in games again like the Dreamcast. I remember taking my Dreamcast home and putting in Sonic Adventure, and MAN was it impressive. On day one - the experience was world's apart from what any other console could do. The people who took theirs home with Soul Caliber probably got the shock of their lives, and that game was available on launch day; even to this day it still is an impressive game to look at. PS2 didn't have anything that beat the Dreamcast in graphics until Grand Turismo 3 came out. I still don't think that I have found a game that has involved me more than Shenmue, that game can involve you better than a good movie.

This is not just in the CA region. I found it at my local EB in Missouri. But it is for a used dreamcast and the games that were available were awful. No Soul Calibur! The games were all preowned as well. Prices ranged fro 2.99-15.99. I would have almost had to buy all the games they had plus the new keyboard just to make the $75 bucks. Might be a hot deal in some areas but not here.

Actually, Soul Caibur's pretty hard to find nowadays...

My list of must-get games if you're new:

Soul Calibur
Shenmue
Phantasy Star Online (ver 2 if possible)
Skies of Arcadia
Typing of the Dead (w/two keyboards hehehe, but incredibly difficult to find [at least the US version]..)
Crazy Taxi
Grandia II
Virtua Tennis (and 2K2)
NFL 2K1
Metropolis Street Racer (getting hard to find)
House of the Dead 2 (w/two light guns)

There's more that I think are really good, but I can't recall everything at the moment.. I'll post them here if you're looking for DC

Dang, this is hot. I might have to go score me a backup system. Seems like this is a result of all the N64's and Dreamcasts they got with the $100 trade-in deal.

My list of must-get games if you're new:

Good choices, but I would replace your NFL game with NFL Blitz (not realistic, but way fun!) and don't forget Seaman. That was a game ahead of it's time. No "backups" available for Seaman though since it needs the microphone.

My local EB doesn't have ANY N64 stuff and I can't remember how long it's been since they have. They certainly don't have any DC consoles either (Though the accessories are still there)...
