Just found out that the discontinued Dreancast is only 50 bucks new.. I know there are no games being made for it and it isn't up to the newer console standards. but for fifty bucks don't you think it would be worth it. last I checked there are over 200 games for it and the sports games are really good in fact this years football game (NFL2K I think) got almost the same scores as the PS2 or X-box football games. anyone else thinking about buying one???

Heck, why not? If you don't like it after a few weeks, sell it to someone else and get your money back or more. At the Christmas rush, they'll be in high demand, being the "value" console, so even trading in used games should be fine.

Game prices are great too. Besides the brand new xxx2k2 games, most are $10 or $20, with the recent hits at $30. Picked up Virtua Tennis for 10 and Marvel vs. Capcom2 for $13. Search your local EB and GameStop, they have some great deals among all their crap.

where'd you come across the dreamcast? i only have a circuit city, comp usa, office max, office depot, gamestop, and software etc near by. what stores of those that i listed would carry the dc for the current price of 50.00. i am really interested in picking one up.

Hey my thread is being referenced. :)

I still haven't bought one. I looked at those list of top rated games at IGN and the like but I still don't know. It'd probably be cool but I have a feeling I'll play it but then of course go back to playing computer games instead and it'll just sit there. I kinda want a new one too because THPS3, GT3, GTA3 all kickass or I might wait a bit and get an Xbox.

edit: I'm tempted again! If there was a Hot Deal with one for $40 or less I'd probably get one but even at $50 then I'd buy at least 2 or 3 games to start at like $15-$20 each which is a very good price but it'd add up. Then I'd have to (well want to) buy a cartridge for my Force RS wheel so I can use it on the Dreamcast racing games. It'd prob be $150 if I got a memory card too. Damn... I need a new hard drive too...

I got it on PC but I would not mind playing it up in my living room with my speakers blasting on my 36" TV!!!!!!!! probably gonna get the football game too. Target didn't have any left I'm not sure about Wal-mart. better get one soon before they run out...

DC for $50! YEAH!!! Soul Caliber is awesome. I never got the modem to work with my ISP but so what! The DC was ahead of it's time. Shame it's gone the wayside.

yes its worth it, in my opinion it was worth it when I got mine on launch day for 199 :)

too bad the dreamcast is gone now, but still there are tons of "cheap" great games that you can pickup for this system.

I don't know for sure, but I heard that some of the better Dreamcast games could rival PS2 games in terms of graphics? Anyway, it's a cool system. Crazy Taxi was a blast.

This is true...though not only can they rival PS2 games, but sometimes they can beat them. PS2's graphics often suffer from the dreaded jagged edges because implementing anti-aliasing is difficult in the code. It's just a PITA platform to develop for, period. The Dreamcast may not have the highest detailed graphics, but in terms of smoothness and liquidity, it's pretty tough to beat. And you have to play Rayman 2 on the Dreamcast. A times it looks like you are looking at a painting...the textures are so smooth and pixelization is practically unnoticeable
