These guys are so amazing...
I got introduced to them a while ago, but only have a few songs. I really like A Change of Seasons and the Glass Prison.

Gimme some suggestions of other good songs by them!

A Change of Seasons is just fantastic.

Check out :

Home (my favorite)
The Mirror

There are many more but I don't have any albums except for Metropolis. Six Degrees of Inner Turbulence is just awesome. Check out that album.

If CorporateRecreation shows up, he's the one who introduced me to them and would know a lot more songs.

I suggest you download the Images and Words album first. Then move onto Awake.

After that, I can't say I really care for their stuff. The vibe on their last 3 albums just irks me.

And you should probably avoid the album, "When Dreams And Days Unite" entirely (their first album). There is only one good song on there, Ytse Jam.

Everything off "Scenes From a Memory"
Anything off "Awake"
Also check out the "Scenes From NY" set; simply amazing. The drum solo in the last four minutes of Finally Free is godlike.

What he said. Plus check out Change of Seasons.

Falling into Infinity is a bit more radio friendly.
Scenes from a memory is one big technical demonstration. There might be hints of actual music here or there but it quickly disappears into an on slaught of instrumental masturbation before it has a chance to develop.
Six Degrees of Seperation I didn't even bother buying 'cause I heard people say, "If you liked Scenes you'll love this."

Also check out Liquid Tensin Experiment.

I'm a metalhead, but I don't think I like DT very much.

What are some good songs for someone who really digs Iced Earth? :p

Listen to them chronologically. It's the best way to fully appreciate their growth in the past decade.

Also, you may have to listen to some of the albums several times. It LITERALLY took me 3 straight listens through "Metropolis Part II" before a little gear moved in my head and I realized it was one of the greatest pieces of music ever written.

I have all of their CDs on my CD rack.

Each one ripped to my hard drive, lovingly, at 224 Kbps AVBR MP3. Perfect rips from a pristine new CD, each one of them.

I cherish them. ;-)

Holy dream concert batman! The only thing that could sweeten that concert is if John Bonham, Jimmy Hendrix, and Cliff Burton came back from the dead!

Oh Ya baby....Sat 7/26/03 ? Concord, CA - Chronicle Pavilion (QR).....saw them last year with Satriani. I had never really heard their music but am a big Satch fan so I thought, what the heck I'll sit through Dream Theater. WOW...they blew me away probably even moreso than Satch did. Between Petrucci (guitar), Portnoy(drums), and Myung(bass) you'll see some insane stuff (Portnoy's drum set had 3 bass drums b/c he had so many other drums he need 2 basses when he moved around his set).

Saw 'em twice last year. Once right after 6DOIT came out, on the tour for the album, and then when they came back into town with Satriani.

The funny thing was, even though Satch-man was technically "Headlining" the tour, you could TOTALLY tell it was a Dream Theater crowd. No one was all that enthusiastic when Satch took the stage, because THANK BOB, Dream Theater was CLOSING on our leg of the tour. So everyone Sat through Satch's guitaral masturbation session, smiling and nodding their heads, and applauding decently when his poor fingers got tired and left the stage.

And then Dream Theater came on, and the freaking crowd came ALIVE.

It aws a damn fine show. Anyone in the Michigan area knows about DTE Music theater (formerly Pine Knob), which is a kickass outdoor venue - One of the 3 largest in the US. The acoustics are great, and we had pavillion seats, maybe 20 rows back.

Awesome show. I'm so catching them this time around too.

I have every CD they produced, except for Live a the marquee and When Dreams and Day Unite

BTW, if you're a really big DT fan, mike portnoy just kicked off the Dream Theater Offical Bootleg project. http://www.ytsejamrecords.com/, Some good stuff there.

I haven't seen them live yet though :( The only show I could have gone to fell on the first day of classes for me, so I couldn't go :(
