Basicly World of tanks in space, with huge ass capital ships instead. They should give this kind of games their own genre, it's starting to get crowded. Immediate and fast battles, I kinda like this more than some arena FPSs...

Prefer Fractured Space even with the limited map. Basically comes down to preference of TDM (Dreadnought) vs MOBA (FS).

Closed Beta now? I'll try out open beta. Game would probably be much more fun with a full team though.

Looks quite pretty. Would love this in a SW setting where you could also pilot fighters instead of having them as AI only.

Lol that guy in the second video was so into it!!

Yeah I played some WoT and also tried World of Planes too. Quite fun although I always get bored quite fast because I find the combat a bit shallow. I always end up going back to a MOBA because I love the variety of abilities and interactions with others.

This game looks pretty good though. I also played Mechwarrior Online which is similar too.

Not convinced. Star Conflict looks like the superior game.

And for capital ships, these look very underwhelming in terms of size and firepower. Dreadnoughts... more like a Frigate or Destroyer at best.

Judging from the page I saw, they have several classes of ships.

And SC is an arc title, so that has its own negatives.

I've watched some video previews and streams of this game. The 'low scale' battles, and the low number of ships involved makes it look underwhelming. I'd prefer something along the lines of 10 to 15 ships on each teams, for a total of 30 or so. I'm not sure if it's always 5 Vs 5, regardless of the maps (is it?), but I haven't seen maps so far that would seem to allow more players than what looks like the 'standard' and only choice. Maybe custom servers will be possible, with more players perhaps.

It sure looks good, but yeah, the 'action' is so so, nothing impressive, nothing 'epic' to it. I do like the details on the ships themselves for sure, credits where due. But generally speaking it looks like a generic shooter except its on ships, you die a few times, you respawn a few times. I would have preferred it if you would NOT respawn after you die, but instead make the ship more durable to compensate and still have about the same match duration overall. Each ship would instead lose parts / layers of their hull(s), you'd lose specific (individual) turrets / cannons (etc), you'd then start losing your engines (if you only have one, it would instead go in a few phases of degradation), and so on.

What I have in mind - simply put - would be something like Star Wars: Empire at War's space battle system, in full 3D (without the respawn or 'reinforcement' part). Instead they opted to go for the more common-to-shooters die-and-respawn cycle. It might still be somewhat fun, but I suspect that I would get bored of it in about a week or so. I'll wait until this holiday for some very cheap deals, if anything.

It is in open beta now for PS4. PC is up to 1.8.0 They are giving everyone a Tier 4 light tactical cruiser.

I do like the fact it is not twitch fest. The destroyer has a plasma ram :D

I will say I enjoyed trolling around with the corvette but I end up spending way more time with its cousin Fractured Space, which has a more familiar DOTA/MOBA vibe.

I just installed dreadnought a couple of days ago and just played 40 min, still much to try. seems fun enough for pickup gaming.

Yep, like I said, I like both of them. Just mentioned FS since they're similar and I prefer it. Dreadnaught is still a lot of fun :)

Played it when is was a buggy, exploit fest. Was some massive imbalance issues too. Grindy and repetitive with a P2W monetization scheme. Otherwise it is basically world of tanks with space craft. There are plenty of these games out there that all just seem like skins of each other. War Thunder, World of Tanks, Mech Warrior Online, and others. Quick small team skirmish games with limited maps and grinding to better vehicles to clobber the other team with.
