Drastic differences in idle/load temps...

Here's the deal...installed an AXP 2500+ mobile in a Shuttle AN35N Ultra board using a Thermaltake Silent Boost HSF with Arctic Silver Ceramique. CPU idles around 31-33C. Under full load (Prime95 for 1 hour) it maxed out at 47C. Seems like quite a gap between idle and load temps. Even though 47C is a good temp it concerns me that the difference is that big. Is that normal? Not having any stability issues so I'm not concerned about it...just curious to see if others have experienced this.

Oh, and BTW, it's running at 200*11.5 at default vcore.

Check what it's running at when at idle. My AMD64 3000 runs at pretty much the same temps but it's using cool'n'quiet and dropping it to 200*5 at idle. Since you've got a mobile in there, it might be doing the same thing by default.

Do you have enough case fans? Maybe your system temp rises during load causing the higher cpu temps.

My idle/load temps are 36C /58C. It is mostly at fault of a crappy HSF Some of them just don't handle loads very well. So no I don't think it is out of the ordinary. Before this I had a 1700 clocked at 2.4Ghz and its idle/load temps were 32C/45C. Seems like a big leap but I think its pretty normal.

Thanks everyone! I didn't really notice the case temps changing drastically, maybe going up 3-4C under load, so I just wanted to make sure that much of a difference between idle and load was OK.
